Now the most busiest weeks of the year for me have passed, winter break is finally here! To celebrate this, I have the honor to close the pattern tour of Compagnie M.'s Julia sweater. I still have to take the time to see all of the previous blog posts, but based on what I saw on the pattern test Facebook-group I think they are a whole lot of inspiration!
When I first started sewing, I could never have guessed that my adventures would lead to this: I'm in the patterntesters group of my favorite pattern designer AND I'm sewing clothes for myself! Thank you again for this opportunity Marte!
Before Marte announced the launch of her Julia sweater for woman, I didn't really consider sewing clothes for myself. But when she asked me to be in the testers group, I just could't resist! I really love dolman sleeves and I love fast sewing projects with the serger.
The only challenge for me was finding the right fabrics. I really love the sweaters Marte made and I love retro-inspired sweaters, but it's just not my style. So I tried to make more simple, classical Juia's. In fact I already made four of them. Today I'm showing two versions.
A t-shirt Julia with a light sheer fabric with lurex (from Stoff.be) and a stretch fabric from Fragile (from Mondepot) and a sweater out of a light sweater fabric (from Stoff.be) customized with little sew-on stones and a faux-leather piping (both from Veritas). I prefer a relaxed fit, so I made a larger size than I usually have.
Because I really enjoyed making clothes for myself, I took the challange to make a Lotta skirt too! I think the Lotta dress in Echino fabric I made for Elysse is the most beautifull item I've ever made and I already knew for a long time that when I would ever make a skirt or dress for myself, it would be in a cotton sateen fabric from Echino as well. Unfortunately the fabric was sold out everywhere. Luckely I found it in Leuven at Lanalotta.
